A long long ways into the future, in pretty much the same galaxy, there was a girl who was about to change the world. A girl who while quiet, seems to care a whole lot for those around her. She lives in District 12 of Panem, and is basically a pretty great friend to have. You all know who I am talking about...
This girl's name is Madge.
Not who you thought I was going for correct? I thought so. This girl may seem like she isn't an essential part of the story, but oh she is. The major's daughter, she never really wanted for anything. Big woop of a character you may say. But wait, wasn't Madge the only girl friend Katniss had in Panem (even if she didn't really realize it till when she gave her the pin)? Wasn't she the girl who started the whole mockingjay symbol of the rebellion by giving this very kick ass pin to Katniss? Without her you might say that the rebellion might not have a mascot. Because for sure Katniss embodied the Mockingjay, but who gave them the thing from which all the ideas bloomed of?
You guessed it, what would be Madge.
Sweet, poor Madge who seems to have been stolen of her spotlight. Because as you are about to see in this trailer #2 Katniss seems to be already in possession of the pin and is trying to give it to Prim. I have to admit ladies and gentlemen...
This. Pissed. Me. Off.
My question to you is this, how important is this change to you? Some might consider it minor, others (a team of which I am a part of) consider it a big deal. Because in reality it changes some of the fundamentals. Not to mention it takes the spotlight away from a pretty good character.
I sure hope I am wrong, and Madge is still giving the pin to Katniss, but Katniss is giving it forward for some other strange reason. But Katniss clearly states in the beginning "look at what I got you" Where did she exactly get it? And how? The Katniss I know if she got her pretty little fucked up hands on it she would have sold it and bought a bunch of foods.
So, discuss.
