Let Richelle Mead's Blog Tour Begin!

Hello, hello! And welcome to one of Richelle Mead's stop =]

Richelle Mead is the author of a number of series named Georgina Kincaid Series, Dark Swan Series, and The Vampire Academy. We'll be talking a little from each one today. She lives in Seattle, and when she's not writing, she can be found watching bad movies, inventing recipes, and buying far too many dresses.

So let's begin =]

In a nutshell, can you tell us a little about the Vampire Academy series?

It’s about two races of vampires: the Moroi (good, living vampires) and the Strigoi (evil, undead vampires). The heroine is a reckless, half-vampire teenage girl training to be a bodyguard for Moroi royalty. Things get complicated when she falls for her older instructor and learns her best friend (whom she’s sworn to protect) might be going insane from her magic.

Which do you prefer, good or bad Dimitri? I prefer the good one.

I can’t really say, both because it might give something away about the series and because I kind of like both in different ways! Writing each one is its own challenge, and as a writer, I like shaking it up and not always doing the same thing.

I know this is not your first series, can you tell us about your other books?

My other two series are for adults but are still paranormals. The Georgina Kincaid Series (Succubus Blues, Succubus on Top, Succubus Dreams, and Succubus Heat) is about a reluctant succubus who can't touch the man she loves without dire side effects. On top of that, she must deal with Hell's middle management team and the many supernatural threats that come her way. The series has a lot of humor but is also heartbreaking at times.

My Dark Swan Series (Storm Born and Thorn Queen) follows Eugenie Markham, a free-lance shaman who battles ghosts and fey that sneak into our world from the Otherworld. Her whole life changes when a prophecy makes her the Otherworld’s most popular bachelorette, and she begins to find herself getting more and more involved in the world of the fey—as well as a few interesting guys.

Which is your favorite Vampire Academy character? The one you most identify with? Mine is Rose.

Rose is my favorite, but I don’t really identify with her more than the other characters. They all come from inside my head, so I identify with each of them in different ways, if that makes sense. I definitely love writing Rose the most, though, and since she’s my narrator, we have to spend an awful lots of time together.

If you were left in a very boring place alone, lets say the Dentist’s office, and you only had to take 5 books with you, which would you take and why?

-The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
-Beauty by Sheri S. Tepper
-Dragons of Winter Night by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman
-Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
-Succubus Blues…by me!

Except for the last one, they’re all books from my teen years that I’ve since read over and over. They’ve had a big impact on me. As for Succubus Blues…well, that one’s my baby.

And there you have it folks! Richelle is a fantastic writer and person. If you haven't started one of her series, you must go to your nearest book store and for god's sake start!
