Of course writing a letter fo complaint is not a grammar point, but I have been adding activities to practice the 4 skills, so this one is for writing. Letters of complaints are contextualized with very funny situations here. These scenes made this writing class much more interesting and meaningful.


I. Watch the movie segments from the movies License to Wed and Death at a Funeral. Both scenes are very funny, but they show consumers who are dissatisfied with the service they were provided with. When you watch the scene, make sure you observe what the problem was and how you would like the problem to be resolved.

Imagine now that you are one of the characters from the segments you have just seen. Put yourself in his shoes and write a letter of complaint to the company who provided you with the service. Choose one of the scenes to complain. Follow the guidelines below:

• An introduction that clearly identifies the subject of the complaint. In the first paragraph you should identify what the issue is and any relevant information that you believe is important. Be sure to include the following information if it's applicable to the situation: the date/time of the issue, location, name of person on duty, name of product, what the problem was, your account number, model number, price, warranty information and reference number. Be sure to stick with the facts and avoid putting emotions into your letter.

• A body paragraph that (a) clearly and specifically explains the nature of the complaint, and (b) provides the reader with all of the information needed to provide an appropriate response. It should state what you would like done to resolve the situation. If you received poor service, you could request an apology or a coupon. If a product malfunctioned, you could request that you could exchange the product for a new one or request a refund.


• A conclusion that clearly states what actions are needed to remedy the problem. The last paragraph should thank the reader for thoe time. You can also throw in some compliments about something you liked about their company's product or service. You should include your telephone number/e-mail address after your printed name so that they can contact you ASAP if necessary. Be sure to keep a copy of the letter for yourself and include photocopies of any relevant documents and enclose them with your letter.

I am moving out of my apt and into a new one. Same complex, just from one building to another. Normally this would only take a day, but I work at said complex so I will be working night and day with no "Getting out of jail" free card, as is. So I may not be posting every single day, but I will try not to be so far away ;)

As of right now I have over 6 boxes full of books (and two guy friends willing to do the heavy lifting). Three boxes with series and DVDs, and 2 suitcases full of clothes (and I still have more lying around).

Damn, I still have to pack more. I hate packing, don't you?

Au Revoir Crazy European Chick is a GREAT title! And after reading the summary I have to say that the cover is very fitting and very good. The Story of Us, I love this cover!! It's so pretty! ^^ Destined is another Greek story retelling, hopefully it will be a good retelling, while Forbidden is about Angels and forbidden existence. Also Forbidden has an academy, and I love books with Academies! Plus, such a pretty cover. Every time I see the cover of How To Save a Life I instantly think of the song by The Fray. I read one book by Sara Zarr before, Once Was Lost and was surprised to find that I liked it, so I plan to read How to Save a Life. Sara Zarr has proven herself to be a fantastic author, so I'm sure she won't disappoint!

I don't think this book needs a full on review, but I'll give you my two cents. As far as adaptations go this one nailed it. It shows you the scenes and dialogue that really matters while cutting most of the prolonged boring crap. Success!

I loved the art. It's basically the sole reason I bought this book. I mean I already read the entire Twilight series so the main draw of this book is to see it in a new platform. All I got to say is that it looks better than the movie lol The way they portrayed the characters was interesting. I like how Bella was portrayed, but I kind of disliked Edward a bit. I have to say I prefer Robert Pattison to the Art Edward.

This is how it looks on the inside:

Sidenote: Nowhere in this book does it say that this is manga, it says GRAPHIC NOVEL, so don't expect the manga art. Expect something new and nice and interesting and good. It's good art. Young Kim is a very good artist.

The graphic novel is mostly in black and white, though it has parts with color (I applaud the parts they choose to have color because they stand out from the rest and they are important parts in the story). For example, the meadow scene is in color, and it looks amazing.

Would I pat $20 for each book in the graphic novel series? Hell no. For $20 bucks I can buy two other books with more pages than this, but I got to say that Twilight: The Graphic Novel is a great add for any Twilight fan's library everywhere. So what I'm basically saying is that it's a very good add to your collection if you like to collect books (which I do; but I got it at Borders for like $5) but if you just want to read it and see it for the hell of it, go to your library or spend 20 minutes in your closest bookstore (That's how long it took me to read this one)

PS; This is NOT the entire Twilight book, it's just part 1. Imagine the bill after all the graphic books are out and you wish to buy them at full price... ouch.

Are you ready for some wicked awesome music inspired by The Hunger Games?

They call themselves District Tribute. I found their page on FB and I got to say, I really like how they portray certain parts of the book. Most of the music is instruments going at it (which does not appeal to me fully but as a backdrop for when your reading is delightful). I wish more of their songs were with people singing, but that does not mean that the music in itself is not beautiful and otherworldly.

I know this has nothing to do with books, but I am a FAN of Avatar The Last Airbender (I have all DVDs to prove it) and they just released a trailer of the sequel to the original series and at the moment I am like this:

Yes, that excited!!!Avatar the Last Airbender is the story of a young monk (Aang)...

...and his friends Katara and Sokka- they are brother and sister. Katara is a water bender, and Sokka is the comic relief.

The series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating the evil Fire Lord and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation (wikipedia).

Also Aang is the Avatar (the only person in the whole world who can bend the 4 elements -water, earth, fire and air- to his will. One is born every time the previous one dies).

And it's full of AWESOME!! The great thing about this series is that it's so funny, and the plot is amazing and the characters are amazing. Basically you can't go wrong with The Avatar.

This movie is amazing. The graphics and the story itself made me have a wonderful time during my trip to New Orleans, because I saw it on the plane that flew me there.

I recently finished and reviewed Delirium, by Lauren Oliver, and although a review can give you some sense of if the book is good and why it is worth the read I think sometimes you just need that extra push over the edge. So here I am, trying my darnest to get you to read Delirium. Why? Because it's freaking awesome!

He takes a step forward and kisses my forehead softly. "I love thee to the level of every day's most quiet need...'"

"Alex-" I start to say, but the word gets tangled in my throat.

He kisses each cheekbone- a delicious, skimming kiss, barely grazing my skin. "I love thee freely..."

"Alex," I say, a little louder. My heart is beating so fast I'm afraid it will burst from my ribs."

Just to warn you though, the cover of Pandemonium goes with the special edition cover so, it's your choice. Just read it!! Also not a lot of people say this, but I actually like this cover because when you take off the jacket on the book itself there's the complete picture of the girl in this cover. The whole face is showing, and not just bits and pieces like it is here. I like it, but oh well!

Cinder's cover (another Meyer coming to rock our worlds?) was released recently, and a looker it is! Plus, Cinderella mixed with cyborgs? MUST READ! Wander Dust was a little difficult to find a release date, I looked everywhere and still couldn't find a specific date. But oh well, I love the cover, and I like the summary, hopefully you will too. Finally, Try Not To Breathe... left me breathless when I saw the cover, so pretty. I haven't read The Secret Year yet though so I must read it before this one comes out!

EXCITING!!! To be honest I kind of forgot for a second there that The Hunger Games was being made into a movie, with the Harry Potter excitement and Vampire Academy voting that's going on (it's crazy!). But I saw this poster and got excited all over again, it's real, it's here!

I am also VERY grateful they are playing this publicity from an angle of "war" and "sacrifice" and excitement and THE HUNGER GAMES, and not from a "triple romance!", "Ain't them hot" sort of angle. THANK YOU! Next I would like a poster with Katniss in it, but remember people, the story is about Katniss and the rebellion, not about the romance!! The romance is a very entertaining side dish, but it's not the main entree.

Also, the flames in the poster? They move. CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM DANCE! Ain't that awesome?!
